Thanksgiving and Christmas. These are two holidays that people usually make turkey dinner for. Over the last few years since we’ve made our smoker we have been making smoked turkey and sharing it with our family and friends! It has always been a favorite for whoever got to try some but last night it was by far the best smoked turkey dinner we have had! I think you are wondering, why are we calling it Thanxmas dinner? Well it is because we combined our Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey dinner into one with Morgyns sister and her family. We had an excellent visit with them and we supplied the smoked turkey! We went to a local turkey farm to buy the turkey so we got it fresh. We let it brine the day before and then smoked it, and while we brought it over it had enough time to rest. It was a bit of a nerve racking time for us because we got up early in the morning at our place and put the turkey in the smoker. We were checking it every half hour to see what the temperature was getting to and it got a little bit too high too fast so we had to lower the temperature for a few hours (well out of the danger zone of course) so that it would be ready in time for when we were going over to Morgyns sisters! It turned out to be fantastic! Morgyns sisters husband made the stuffing, and sides that also turned out delicious, what a great evening of spending time with family and eating wonderful food!
